The Beginning: In 2008, a new father of twins was tired of lugging blankets, coolers, and chairs to outdoor events and family activities. As one man with one too many things to carry, he invented a game-changing backpack, stitching the very first prototype himself. With that prototype, J-Pac, Inc. was founded. To get the backpack just right, after almost nine years and numerous rounds of improvement, J-Pac, Inc. became known as RōM Outdoors and the original backpack (once called the Nappac) became known as the RōM Pack we make today. On November 1, 2016, RōM Outdoors made its debut on the web, officially launching the outdoor lifestyle company headquartered in Nashville.
The Pack: The RōM Pack is a 3-in-1 system. It starts as a backpack with over 3,000 cubic inches of carrying capacity, and can be fully transformed into either a wearable poncho with a hood or into a blanket that’s soft on one side and water resistant on the other—that’s two items you can skip packing. Unlike your typical backpack, the design also allows you to attach additional items outside the backpack, so no stuff gets left behind. Best of all, you’re hands-free. Bring everything.
